On August 31st, the North Iowa Local Food Trail event brought together local farms, businesses, and community members to celebrate and explore the rich variety of local foods our region has to offer. With HHNI team members present at three different sites, the day was full of meaningful interactions, delicious samples, and new connections. We served over 350 samples of local food in one day!

At SkyView Market, where Mary and Marie were stationed, the event was a hit! They served samples of French Dip Sandwiches, which quickly drew in a crowd. The response was fantastic—Roots’ French Dip freezer meals sold out entirely, and the chuck roast was also a top seller. The day started with a line of eager customers waiting outside before opening and continued with a steady flow of visitors throughout the day. Feedback from attendees highlighted how engaging the event felt, with many noting that HHNI’s presence at the market made a big difference in the overall experience. Our team was able to talk about local food, answer questions, and let the vendors focus on sales.

Over at Mossycup Farms, Andrea had the opportunity to serve Air Fryer Pork Chops. Many of the visitors were locals who had never been to the farm, making it a wonderful opportunity for the farm to build new connections with its neighbors. Attendees commented that they appreciated getting to visit the farm and mentioned making multiple stops on the trail, with some even hitting all the destinations.

Pam was at Purple Ribbon Beef  in Britt serving Beef Rotini, rounding out the day at another beautiful stop on the local food trail.

Mallory was also out on the trail working with a professional videographer to capture footage to capture our vibrant local food scene in action for our Grow. Eat. Play. marketing campaign.

We want to extend a huge thank you to all the farms and businesses involved in the event. Your careful planning and dedication to showcasing local food made the day such a success. Thank you for allowing HHNI to be a part of it—we’re honored to work alongside such incredible community partners and look forward to future collaborations!
