Baked Sweet Potato
Serve these warm sweet potatoes as a side, or turn them into the main course by stuffing them with your favorite toppings! Sweet or savory and delicious. Ingredients with an asterisk (*) are available seasonally right here in North Iowa! Click on select ingredients to find them nearby or stop by your local farmer's market.
Ingredients
- 1 sweet potato* per person
- salt + pepper to taste
Optional Topping Ideas
- 1 tbsp chives* chopped
- ¼ cup cheese shredded
- ¼ cup bacon* chopped
- ¼ cup greek yogurt
- 1 tbsp butter
- ¼ cup tzatziki
- ½ cup beef* seasoned
- ½ cup guacamole
- ½ cup apple radish slaw
- ½ cup stuffing
- 1/2 cup ground pork* seasoned
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F and place a piece of foil on a baking sheet. Use a fork to poke holes into the sweet potatoes, set them on the baking sheet.
- Roast for 40 to 50 minutes, or until puffed up and soft inside when pierced with a fork.
- Top with protein to make it a meal or butter for a side dish.
