Cherry Syrup
So refreshing during the summer heat. Add to lemonade, cocktails, ginger ale, your smoothies, or morning yogurt! Ingredients with an asterisk (*) are available seasonally right here in North Iowa! Click on select ingredients to find them nearby or stop by your local farmer’s market.

Ingredients
- 2 cups cherries*
- 1½ cups sugar granulated, less for more tart flavor
- 2 cups water
Instructions
- Remove pits (you can tear them out, gently, since it won't matter what they look like) and stems. See video for tips!
- Over medium-high heat, add cherries, sugar, and water to a pot and bring to a low boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let cool for a minimum of 10 minutes before transferring to a blender. Blend for about 30 seconds.
- Strain liquid with a fine mesh strainer and store in a sealed container.
- Use a tablespoon or two at a time to add to your favorite summery drink!
