Hosted by Healthy Harvest of North Iowa, Nut Haven, The Iowa Nut Growers Association, and Hazel Acres, this event is perfect for new and experienced growers, as well as curious community members and hazelnut enthusiasts.

What to Expect:

• Orchard Tour: Learn about hazelnut production, pruning, and see the maturing nuts on the shrubs.
• Processing Demonstrations: Witness husking, nut separation, sizing, cracking, and sorting.
• Agroforestry & Water Quality: Discover the environmental benefits of perennial crops.

“This will be a field day for new growers, experienced growers, or those looking to learn more about the opportunity to grow this perennial crop right here in Central Iowa. The Nut Growers will be talking about the IA Hazelnut Project, teaching about pruning, and of course processing some nuts, it is going to be a really fun day,” said Jeff Jensen, farm host.

• Meet the owners, Roger and Jeff Jensen, who planted the first hazelnut shrubs in 2005.
• Tour the Iowa Nut Growers Association Hazelnut Test Plot.
• Network with others interested in hazelnut cultivation and enjoy some refreshments.
