ISU Local Food Festival: An Adventure in Eating and Community

An Adventure in Eating and Community is an annual festival at Iowa State University celebrating local food and healthy living. The free event takes place each September on the sidewalk between Beardshear and Curtiss Halls on central campus in Ames.
Attendees will find educational displays and locally grown and produced products for sale by area vendors and ISU clubs. COVID-19 safety protocols allow free samples this year if they are individually packaged and not self-serve. Clubs and farms will also sell packaged food.
The festival began in 2015 as a collaboration among FFED, ISU Dining, ISU’s Live Green! Initiative, the ISU Sustainable Agriculture Student Association and other partners. Around 2,500 students and faculty normally attend the half-day festival.
The walk-through outdoor event features tent displays on growing, raising and incorporating local foods into diets. Other displays will feature healthy lifestyle tips and sustainability-focused activities.
If your farm would like to be a vendor, visit bit.ly/3b7KH3E for information and registration.
