Jóia Food Farm Chili
This chili recipe comes from local producer Jóia Food Farm, a diverse livestock and organic grain farm located near Charles City. Ingredients
- 1 lb beef* or lamb or bison, ground
- 1 onion* chopped
- 1 green pepper* chopped
- 2 cloves garlic* or more 🙂
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- 1 can dark red kidney beans or chili beans
- 1 8 oz tomato sauce
- 2-3 tsp chili powder or to taste
- 1 tsp dried basil
- salt + pepper to taste
Instructions
- Cook ground meat, onion, green pepper and garlic until meat is brown. Stir in undrained tomatoes, beans, tomato sauce, chili powder, basil, salt and pepper. Bring to boil then reduce to simmer. Simmer for 20 minutes or more. Serve hot!
- We enjoy eating chili with buttered flour tortillas. Corn chips is also good!
