Our recent Field Day at Mossycup Farms in Clear Lake was a resounding success! Held on June 15th, the event drew enthusiastic attendees eager to learn about local farming and sustainable practices. Guests were treated to an array of educational and enjoyable activities, making it a memorable day for all ages.
The day kicked off with tours of the farm, commercial kitchen, and farm store at 2:30 and 3:30. Participants explored the charming Mossycup Farms, home to heritage breed pigs, peacocks, turkeys, and chickens. Laura captivated the crowd with a demonstration on lard rendering, showcasing how it can be used in cooking or soap-making.
Families particularly enjoyed the special scavenger hunt for young locavores, while everyone appreciated the delicious treats made with ingredients from Mossycup Farms. The beautiful countryside views and the chance to mingle with fellow local food enthusiasts added to the day’s appeal.
