Watermelon Lemonade
What says "summer" more than watermelon and lemonade? This recipe uses local honey instead of cane sugar, making it a healthier option for your whole family. Ingredients with an asterisk (*) are available seasonally right here in North Iowa! Click on select ingredients to find them nearby or stop by your local farmer's market.

Equipment
- Blender or Food Processor
Ingredients
- 1½ lbs watermelon* cubed
- 1 cup fresh-squeezed lemon juice
- ½ cup honey*
- 6 cups water
- herbs* mint, basil, thyme, etc
- 1 pint frozen berries* and/or ice
Instructions
- Add the watermelon, lemon juice, honey and 2 cups of water to a blender. Blend until smooth. Pour into a large pitcher and add remaining water. Stir.
- Add more honey to taste. Add in a sprig of herbs if desired. When serving use frozen berries or frozen chunks of fruit to keep lemonade chilled without watering down the flavor!
